Letter from Our New Member Educator

Hello! I am so glad you are interested in HIS and were able to find our website. Here is some more information about our organization. HIS is the Christian sorority on campus. We are affiliated with the office of Religious and Spiritual Life as well as the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. Basically, what this means is that both aspects of our sorority, both the religious aspect and the sorority aspect, are covered by different factions of TCU (double duty if you will). Requirements of our members include attending weekly meetings on Tuesday nights at 8:15, doing 2 hours of HIS sanctioned philanthropy, being involved in a bible study either in HIS or through another organization, and regularly attending church. If you don't currently have a home church in Fort Worth, not a problem! We can help you through the search and hook you up with a church that is right for you! As a new member, you would also have New Member Meeting on Tuesdays at 7:15 (right before big meeting) and attend a New Member bible study that would count as the required bible study. New Member dues are $150, Active's dues are $130, scholarships are available so don't hesitate to ask! Other things that we do as a sorority include chapter retreats, formals, mixers, Victory (dance honoring the new members), inductions and more!

In terms of Fall rush, we do not do formal rush like the Panhellenic sororities do. This means there is no registration form to fill out, rec letters to get, or summer rush activities. We do have a couple rush events planned for once school starts that are really just a meet and greet. It's a chance for you to see the sorority in action and decide if it's something you are interested in joining. There are 2 open meetings at the beginning of the semester (Tuesday at 8:15), and we usually hold other events like movie nights. Also, just so you know- because we are not a Panhellenic sorority, you can be in both HIS and a Panhellenic sorority if you are interested and if your other sorority is ok with it as well. We have some girls in HIS currently that are also in other sororities. It's a big time committment, but it is possible!

We also do Spring rush, which is the same as Fall. We have two open meetings the first two Tuesdays of the semester at 8:15 and other fun events!

If you would like more information, I encourage you to check out our websites- there are 2.  The national HIS website is www.etaiotasigma.org and our TCU specific website is www.etaiotasigma.tcu.edu. If you email me, New Member Educator (Katye Tankersley – k.s.tankersley@tcu.edu) I will add you to a list of women who have voiced interest in joining HIS and I will add your name to that list. So you can expect an e-mail from me around the beginning of the school year telling you in more detail what the rush activities will be.

If you have any questions in regards to this e-mail or anything else, please feel free to e-mail me and I will be more than happy to answer them.

I look forward to meeting you!
