Our Names
|
The name of this sorority is He is Sufficient (HIS), which is translated from the
Hebrew word Dayenu.
The sorority uses the Greek letters:
Eta Iota Sigma (HIΣ).
HIΣ (Eta Iota Sigma) indicates that each member truly belongs to God. "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of the darkness." 1 Peter 2:9
By the realization that He is sufficient to our growth through fellowship and
exaltation of the Lord, we may serve as a light and appeal to the needs of other women on campus. "But if we walk in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the
blood of Jesus, His son, purifies us from all sin." 1 John 1:7

Our Doctrinal Beliefs
We believe: Jesus is
the only way to eternal life, the only way to the Father, the only way
to heaven. As He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one
comes to the Father except through me." -John 14:6 “For the wages of sin
is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
-Romans 6:23
We believe: “Christ
died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring
you to God. He was put to death in the body, but made alive by the
spirit." -I Peter 3:18 “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is
Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you
will be saved." -Romans 10:9
We believe: “This
righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who
believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of
the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through
redemption that came by Christ Jesus." -Romans 3:22-24
We believe: “It is by
grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from
yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works so that no one can
boast." -Ephesians 2:8-9
We believe: Jesus is
the Son of God who came to this earth as a man (Luke 2) to experience
life and its temptations (Matthew 4) with one end in view: to
reconcile us to Him through His death on the cross (John 19:17-42) and
through His resurrection (John 20:1-31). “For even the Son of Man did
not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom
for many." -Mark 10:45
We believe: “[Christ],
being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something
to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a
servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as
a man, He humbled himself and became obedient to death – even death on a
cross." -Philippians 2:6-8
We believe: Apart from
God, we can have no good thing. “I said to the Lord, ‘You are my Lord;
apart from you I have no good thing.’" -Psalm 16:2
We believe: God’s holy
word is truth, it is infallible, for there is no error in God.
“As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is
a shield for all who take refuge in him." -Psalm 18:30 “For the word of
the Lord is right and true; He is faithful in all he does." -Psalm 33:4
“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private
interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men
of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." -II Peter 1:20-21
We believe: “There is
now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through
Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of
sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was
weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending His own Son in the
likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so He condemned sin in
sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be
fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature, but
according to the Spirit." -Romans 8:1-4
